Children?s Book Fair to start Dec 23
Kolkata : The fifth edition of Children?s Book Fair (CBF) will be held from December 23 to 31 at Bidhannagar Mela Ground here.
The CBF will provide a good platform to inculcate and propagate in children the various important aspects of life through the reading of books, which is now on its way to become a threatened habit with the advent of the technological age, said organizers.
The CBF committee comprises of writers, poets, painter & sculptors, businessmen, social workers and other eminent personalities from all walks of the society. It is being guided under the Chairmanship of Justice G. N. Ray (Retd) who is also the chairman for The Press Council of India.
Speaking on the occasion, S P Bagla, General Secretary, Children?s Book Fair 2010 said, “The Children?s Book Fair marks the celebration of the written word; it introduces young people to new authors and ideas. Through this initiative, we want to encourage young people and their parents/guardians to discover the world beyond their own through books.”
There will be more than 60 participants from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. More than 150 stalls spread over an area of 25000 sq. ft will be set up.
Publishers of international repute like Readers Paradise, Galgotia Publication, Shisu Sahitya Samsad,Children’s Book centre, Scholastic, Script, Turtle purple, Diamond Books, Knowledge Storm, Edulite, Evolve Multimedia, Oxford, Amity, Tata Mc Graw, Heritage, Ananda Publishers, Pebbles, GRV, Shree Shoppers, Books & Sundries, Childrens Publication, Pakistan, Katha O Kahini, Brainware, Aeronautical Society of india, LINC, Star Marks, Navneeet, Joy Books, ITC, Future, Techno India, Sunderlal and many more are expected to set up their stalls.
