Kolkata : Two container vessels were damaged in a head-on collision on Tuesday in Hooghly river in West Bengal?s South 24 Parganas district.
Both the ships were damaged in the incident, reports said.
The two foreign ships, ?Green valley? and ?Tiger Singh?, collided at about 11.30 am at the confluence of the Hooghly and Rupnarayan rivers, near Nurpur.
One of the vessel sustained serious damages and is likely to be towed to Kolkata port on Wednesday, while the other will sail back, Kolkata Port Trust authorities informed.
There was no report of any casualty or oil spill.
One of the ships was sailing from Kolkata to Haldia and the other from Haldia to Kolkata.
