West Midnapore : Maoists bombed a building that housing a farmers’ organisation and torched a community hall in West Bengal’s Jhargram area in West Midnapore district on Friday.
However, no casualty in the arsons was reported in the violence in the wee hours, police said.
A group of ultras raided Bandhgora village and detonated a landmine to raze the building, housing the Krishak Sabha office. Krisak Sabha is farmers’ wing of the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
After flattening the brick-built house, the militants attacked the neighbouring village of Radhanagar where they torched a community hall.
The dual attack was in retaliation to Thursday’s arson where several houses of Maoist backed-People’s Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) supporters were set ablaze in the neighbouring village to avenge the killing of Srikanta Mondal, a school employee, by the Maoists the day before.
