56th Filmfare Awards : Dabangg best popular film
The chemistry of Shahrukh Khan and Kajol emerged victorious in the 56th Filmfare Awards on Saturday night as the popular pair of B-town bagged the ?Best actor Popular? and ?Best actress Popular? awards.
Director Karan Johar also won the ?Best Director? award for the film ‘My Name Is Khan’.
‘Best Actor Male (Critics)’ award was taken away by Rishi Kapoor, while it was Vidya Balan for her outstanding performance in the film ?Ishqiya? that brought her ‘Best Actor Female (Critics)’ award on the star studded Saturday night.
After creating records at the box office, the Salman Khan starrer ?Dabangg? continued its bang at the awards night, as it received the ?Best Film Popular Category?, besides the leading lady of the film, Sonakshi Sinha won the ?Best Sensational Debut Female? award.
Director Manessh Sharma bagged the ?Best Debut Director? award for his film ?Band Bajaa Baaraat ?, while, ?Best Sensational Debut Male? category was won by the Ranveer Singh for the same film.
Habib Faisal won the ?Best Dialogue? award for the movie.
?Best Choreography? award was won by Farah Khan for the popular item number of the year ?Sheila Ki Jawani?.
The ?Best Playback Singer (Female)? category witnessed the singers of the two chart-busting item numbers of the year bagging the award as Mamta Sharma (Munni Badnaam) and Sunidhi Chauhan (Sheila Ki Jawaani) won it.
?Best Playback Singer (Male)? was won by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for his popular number ?Dil toh baccha hai ji?.
?Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male)? was won by actor Ronit Roy for his performance in the movie ?Udaan?.
?Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female)? was cinched by Kareena Kapoor for ?We Are Family?.
‘Best Music? award went to Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit for ?Dabangg?.
Gulzar received the ?Best Lyrics? award for the popular hit of the year- ?Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji?.
The ?Best Story? and ?Best Screenplay? award was clinched by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane for the movie ?Udaan?.
?Best Editing? category was clinched by Namrata Rao for ?Love, Sex aur Dhokha?.
