Advani Rathyatra root of terrorism: Digvijay Singh

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh kept up his relentless attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its sister organizations on the issue of terrorism as he blamed the Rathayatra of L K Advani ahead of the Babri demolition in 1992 as the root of all extremism in India.

“The demolition of Babri Masjid was a blot. The terrorism has its roots in the Rathyatra of Advani which caused the rift between the Muslims and Hindus in India,” he said, delivering his speech at the Congress plenary session at Burari here.

Reacting to the remark, BJP said Digvijay Singh should not be taken seriously.

“We have stopped taking him seriously,” said BJP Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra, reacting to the remark at the Congress plenary.

Earlier, Singh had blamed the RSS for the many acts of terror in India and demanded probes.

“Sunil Joshi, an RSS pracharak of Devas [Madhya Pradesh] – who was involved in the Nimama murder case in Indore district, involved in Mau bomb blast, involved in Mecca Masjid blast, was involved in Ajmer Sharif Dargah bomb blast, was involved in Samjhauta Express blast – was murdered in Devas sometime back,? Digvijay Singh said.

?At that time only I had demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of Sunil Joshi because he knew too much,” he said on Saturday.

Congress is tipped to be formulating an anti-RSS resolution in the plenary.
