Bartoli crowned Wimbledon women’s singles champion

London : France’s Marion Bartoli won her maiden Grand Slam, beating Sabine Lisicki of Germany in straight sets in the women’s singles final of the 2013 Wimbledon Championships here Saturday.

Bartoli won 6-1, 6-4 in an hour and 21 minutes.

Bartoli, seeded 15th, became the second Frenchwoman after Amelie Mauresmo, who lifted the title in 2006, to win the premier grass court event.
