Battle of pride for Chargers and Warriors
With their hopes already dashed, both Deccan Chargers and Pune Warriors will be playing for pride when they face at the Dr DY Patil Sports Stadium here on Monday.
Bot the captains Yuvraj Singh and Kumar Sangakkara, who were earlier part of Kings XI Punjab, were in charge of their new teams in this fresh season.
In fact, Sangakkara replaced Yuvraj as the captain after Kings XI Punjab owners were unhappy with the Punjab lad’s captincy skills.
No wonder if those old rivalries will be renewed with new teams.
The match offers both the captains a chance for a respectable finish in the IPL.
But the focus will be on former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who will be playing under Yuvraj in his second IPL match.
In the last match, Ganguly proved that the hunger is still in him and it could prove costly for the Chargers.
It will also be the last IPL tie for Sangakkara, who gave up the Sri Lankan captaincy after the World Cup, will feature in his last IPL tie
this season. The southpaw would be keen to finish his otherwise lacklustre run on a high before joining his Lankan teammates in England.
