A Bihar legislator holding a people’s gathering at his residence was stabbed to death on Tuesday morning by a woman who had accused him and his associates of gangraping her over a period of three years since 2007.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator in Bihar’s Purnea , Raj Kishore Kesri, died instantly after he was attacked with a knife by the woman who is a school teacher in a local private school, police said.
The woman- Rupan Pathak- was beaten up by the guards of the MLA and other people at the spot and later she was admitted in hospital in a serious condition.
She had mingled with the crowd pouring into the “janta durbar” (open court of people) and slipped in with the knife under her shawl and then attacked the MLA fatally when her turn came to meet the politician.
Pathak had lodged last year a complaint of rape against the three time Purnea MLA, but later withdrew it.
The MLA had denied the allegation and said she was driven by vested interests.
Kesri was serving his third term as an MLA in the recently elected National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar.
Police are probing if the woman is of unsound mind or there is truth in her previous allegations which she had withdrawn later.
