BJP calls Jammu shutdown against Omar?s remarks

Jammu : The Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday called for Jammu shutdown on November 8 to protest Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah?s remarks on J&K?s instrument of accession with India.

The shutdown has been called to collide with the scheduled opening day of re-opening of government offices in the winter capital after traditional ‘Durbar Move’.

?We will welcome the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister with protests, besides Jammu bandh when the Civil Secretariat will open here on November 8,? BJP state chief Shamsher Singh Manhas said.

He slammed Omar for his remarks on J&K?s accession to India and charged the chief minister of speaking in the language of the separatists.

?Omar Abdullah should either seek an apology from the people of the state or resign from the chair,? Manhas said.

The BJP leader claimed support of other organizations, including transporters? bodies, to the shutdown call.
