BJYM calls for arresting Mirwaiz Farooq
Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President Anurag Thakur on Thursday slammed the Central Government over dealing with separatists in Jammu and Kashmir and called for the arrest of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Hurriyat leaders Farooq and Bilal Lone were on Thursday were attacked by alleged right-wing Hindu outfits and Kashmiri Pandits? groups in Chandigarh during a convention over their pro-separatist stand.
At the seminar organised by the Internationalist Democratic Party on Jammu & Kashmir issue in which Farooq was invited as a Chief Speaker, the BJYM party workers had ?made a strong protest? the party admitted in a press statement.
The police had reacted swiftly and took away the Hurriyat leaders to safety and while reports said that Mirwaiz was punched on the face, the authorities refused to confirm it.
The protesters raised anti-Mirwaiz slogans and pelted stones at the KIshan Bhawan, which was hosting the function.
In its statement, BJYM, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJYM), said, ?The police personnel present there had used force to stop the workers of BJYM from protesting as a result of which several workers were injured.?
Among the people who were arrested by the police Thursday were BJYM State President M S Siddhu and many other workers.
BJYM Nation President Anurag Thakur lambasted the Central Government?s ?helplessness? over dealing with the separatists.
Thakur said that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government is adopting ?an attitude of gross negligence in respect of a very sensitive issue like country?s security due to which the sovereignty of the country has been endangered and separatists are becoming bold?.
