The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday quizzed Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) secretary Lalit Bhanot and political advisor Manoj Bhore in connection to financial irregularities in the mega event.
Both Bhanot and Bhore are close aides of OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi, the main accused of the CWG scam.
On Dec 26, with the CBI raiding his residences in connection to the scam, it was revealed that Kalmadi is facing the heat from the International Olympic committee.
NDTV reported on Sunday that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in a letter has asked Kalmadi to make changes in the constitution of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). Kalmadi is the president of IOA.
If he fails to comply, his post as the sports body’s President could be in jeopardy.
IOC has made it clear that if the IOA fails to abide by their new rules, Kalmadi could get the boot as early as Jan 2011.
Meanwhile, a report in The Times of India on Sunday said the CBI sleuths also found a letter in the residence of Kalmadi which shows he was being blackmailed by a group for coughing up Rs 4 crore to stop making public a “CD with damning information about him”.
Earlier, the CBI arrested OC officials TS Darbari and Sanjay Mahendroo over corruption scandals.
