Chennai super kings defeat Royal challengers Bangalore

The entire MA Chidambaram Stadium cheered aloud as their home side Chennai Super Kings (CSK) crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 21 runs in a league level match of the cash rich Indian Premiere League (IPL) on Saturday evening.

Chasing Chennai?s total of 183 runs for the loss of five wickets, Bangalore?s score card showed 162 for the loss of seven wickets at the end of their quota of 20 overs.

Batting first Dhoni?s Chennai Super Kings posed a competitive total of 183 runs for the loss of five wickets.

Mike Hussey gave the reigning IPL champions a steady start to the innings along with M Vijay (31).

Hussey hit 11 boundaries and a six in his unbeaten innings of 83 runs from 56 balls giving his side the much needed momentum in the all-South match.

SK Raina (29) andDhoni (22) gave Hussey good support with the bat on the other side of the crease.

JJ van der Wath and R Ninan picked up two wickets each for RCB in the match.

Chasing the winning target of 184 runs, RCB had the worst possible start to the match as they lost the wicket of Dilshan as the scorecard showed one run for the loss of one wicket.

RCB continued to loose wickets at regular intervals making the run chase difficult for the side.

At one stage RCB score card showed 31 runs for the loss of three wickets as AB de Villiers? (65) and Virat Kohli (35) tried to give some solidarity to the innings as the pair added 42 crucial runs in the match.

After Kohli got out, AB de Villiers was joined by S. Tiwary (14) in the crease as both of them added more 39 runs to the RCB total.

Things became difficult for RCB as Tiwary, Pujara and finally AB de Villiers got out giving the Chennai supporters all the reasons to cheer aloud for the home side.

The Royal Challengers innings came to an end at 162 for the loss of seven wickets at the end of 20 overs.

JJ van der Wath (14*) and Daniel Vettori (2*) remained unbeaten at the crease till the end.
