Cold continues in Punjab, Haryana
With night temperatures plummetting across Punjab and Haryana, cold wave conditions Thursday prevailed in the two north Indian states and the Chandigarh union territory.
The minimum temperature in Chandigarh dipped to 5 degrees — two degrees below average — from Wednesday’s 6.4 degrees.
In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest at minus 0.5 degree, seven degrees below normal. The mercury fell in Hissar from 1.6 degrees to zero degree.
Amritsar was the coldest in Punjab at 0.4 degree — five degrees below average.
“Though during the next two days, it will be sunny in both the states and Chandigarh, temperature variations will continue for the entire month,” Chandigarh meteorological department director Surender Paul told IANS.
