CVC PJ Thomas opposes removal

Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) PJ Thomas, facing charges of corruption, on Monday maintained before the Supreme Court that he enjoyed an impeccable track record and had high personal integrity.

In an affidavit before the apex court, Thomas opposed the petition seeking his removal as the CVC.

Thomas maintained that he was a person of impeccable integrity and had a flawless track record as a bureaucrat.

He said he was a victim of Kerala politics in Palm oil import scam.

The CVC is facing serious charges of indulging in corruption and a number of litigants, including a NGO, Centre for Public Interest Litigation, and former Chief Election Commissioner JM Lyngdoh, had challenged his appointed as the CVC in the Supreme Court.

The Opposition parties had also criticized the government over appointment of Thomas as the CVC.
