Durban: India need 7 wickets for victory

Chasing a target of 303 for victory, South Africa finished the third day of the second Test match at 111 for the loss of 3 wickets.

Jacques Kallis (12*) and AB de Villiers (17*) remained not out at stumps and will commence the proceedings on day 4 of the second Test match between India and South Africa at Durban.

Skipper Graeme Smith (37) and Alviro Petersen (26) gave South Africa a much needed start to the their second innings, before Smith was picked up by Sreesanth.

Petersen followed him as Harbhajan took his wicket, providing India the much needed breakthrough.

Sreesanth struck once again and dismissed Hashim Amla at his personal score of 16.

Since then Kallis and AB de Villiers have anchored the South African innings, losing no more wickets still stumps.

Indian bowlers need to pick up 7 more wickets for victory.

Commencing the day from the over night score of 92 for thw loss of 4 wickets, India scored 228, giving South Africa a total of 303 runs to chase.

Under pressure Laxman played a crucial innings of 96 runs, missing the century by whiskers.

South African speed star Steyn picked up his wicket.

Pujara (10), Dhoni (21) and Harbhajan (4) failed with their willow.

However, Zaheer Khan gave Laxman a good support and contributed 27 crucial runs.

The 70 runs partnership between Zaheer and Laxman made India increase the lead against South Africa quite comprehensively.

Banking on the much important first innings lead, India posed a total of 303 runs for South Africa for victory.

South African bowlers and specially Steyn bowled aggressively in the second innings as well, picking up 2 wickets in the innings.

Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Morkel shared 3 wickets each.

The day four will be an all important day for both the sides with the math evenly balanced at the moment.

South Africa lead the series by 1-0 at present.
