Family nepotism behind TN results: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said family nepotism helped AIADMK to oust DMK in Tamil Nadu.

The BJP Parliamentary Board met here to discuss the results of the election to the five state assemblies.

The saffron party said the result of each assembly is state-specific.

?An anti-incumbency wave factor due to lack of actual development has impacted the result in West Bengal. Corruption and family nepotism has influenced the election results in Tamil Nadu,? said the BJP.

While Mamata Banerjee rewrote history by unseating the Left after 34 years in West Bengal, J Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu returned to power on Friday in state assembly polls conducted in April-May.

The BJP said lack of united opposition led to Congress victory in Assam.

?The BJP regrets that the lack of opposition unity resulted in the absence of a credible alterative in Assam,? it said.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi led his party into a straight third win with the Congress getting well beyond the majority mark.

Reacting to Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) led Left Front facing a setback in Kerala too, the BJP said: ?The global decline of the Marxist ideology appears to have belatedly arrived in India.?

Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) will form the next government in Kerala as they defeated the Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) by a narrow margin of two seats on Friday.

?The BJP congratulates the winners of these elections in each state and hopes that they will be able to live up to the faith that the voter have reposed in them,? the party said.

Meanwhile, BJP swept Karnataka by-elections, winning all three seats by huge margins at Chennapatna, Jagalur and Bangarpet, striking out the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)].

?The results of the bye elections in Chattisgarh and Karnataka are satisfying for the BJP,? the party said.
