Hurriyat enforces shutdown in Kashmir Valley
A shutdown is being observed in Kashmir Valley on the call given by Hurriyat (G) against the police orders compelling their leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani to stay put in Delhi.
All shops, private and government offices, banks and financial institutions, educational institutions and petrol pumps remained closed across Kashmir due to the shutdown.
The transport was also off the roads, vehicles carrying forces were only seen plying.
However at various places of upper town Srinagar, shops were open and private as well as public transport seen on the roads.
All shops and business establishments were open in the areas of Jawahar Nagar, Raj Bagh, Solina and Ram Bagh areas of Srinagar.
Private transport was also seen plying freely in Pulwamma, Shopian, Anantnag, Bandipora, Tral, Baramulla and Kupwara.
No untoward incident has been reported so far and as a precautionary measure the State Government has deployed police and para-military troopers on large scale.
