IAF Mirage-2000 crashes, pilots eject safely

An Indian Air Force Mirage-2000 combat jet crashed in central India Friday afternoon but the two pilots ejected to safety, an IAF spokesman said.

The aircraft, which had taken off from the Gwalior air base in Madhya Pradesh on a routine training-flying mission, crashed at Bhind, 32 km away, at about 12.10 p.m., the spokesman said.

“The pilots, Air Marshal Anil Chopra and Wing Commander Ram Kumar ejected safely,” he added.

“There was no damage to civil property and no individual was injured/killed as a result of the crash. An inquiry has been ordered to investigate the reasons for the accident,” the spokesman said.
