India beat South Africa to level series
The Indian crickets perhaps presented one of the cherished gifts to their fans this New Year as they defeated South Africa in the second Test match by 87 runs, here on Wednesday.
India bounced back in the series with this victory as they leveled it 1-1.
Chasing a target of 303 for victory, South Africa were all out at 215.
Commencing from the overnight total of 111 for 3 South Africa kept on loosing wickets one after the other.
Jacques Kallis (17) was the first man to get out this morning as his wicket was picked up by aggressive Indian pacer Sreesnath.
Harbhajan Singh soon struck as he picked up the wicket of AB de Villiers at his individual score of 33.
After these two initial blows given by Harbhajan and Sreesanth it was the turn of the experienced Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan to show his charisma as he picked up three crucial South African wickets.
Mark Boucher (1), Steyn (10) and Harris (7) failed with their willow, as all of them got out to Zaheer.
On the other end of the crease Ashwell Prince tried to provide some amount of resistance to the Indian bowlers as he scored a fighting 39 runs in the second innings and remained unbeaten till the end.
In the end Morne Morkel contributed 20 runs before Sharma before getting out to Sharma.
Lonwabo Tsotsobe (0) was the last man to get dismissed; he got run out, thus ensuring India their first Test match victory in this ongoing series.
Sreesanth and Zaheer took three wickets each in the game.
Both the teams will now look forward to the third and final Test match of this series, as it will be a crunch battle for both the teams to win the Test series.
