India won against South Africa by 1 run

Johannesburg : Riding on the magic of the bowlers, India pulled up a 1-run victory over South Africa here in a cliffhanger of an ODI that spectators at the New Wanderers stadium and cricket lovers in India glued to TV sets would remember for long.

Chasing a target of 191 for victory, as set by the Indian batsmen, South Africans got bowled out at 189.

Skipper Graeme Smith topped the batting chart for South Africa with his 77 runs.

Indian bowlers maintained a good line and length in this match with all of them contributing well.

Munaf Patel was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he scalped four crucial wickets, while Zaheer picked up two at the end to drive South Africans to the back foot.

Batting first, India posed a total of 190 runs for the loss of 10 wickets.

Yuvraj Singh showed good performance with the bat as he scored 53 runs in the Indian innings.

With this victory, India levelled the series 1-1, as the first One Day International was won by South Africa.
