IPL: CSK defeat RR by 63 runs
Dhoni and his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) returned to winning mood as they thrashed Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 63 runs in their home grounds on Monday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here.
Batting first the Chennai batsmen butchered the Rajasthan bowlers as they posted 196 runs on board by losing only three wickets in the match.
Chasing the target of 197 for victory in 20 overs, the RR batsmen got all out on 133 runs in 19.3 overs.
The RR batsmen could never match the run rate required and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals to add pressure to their run chase.
AM Rahane with his 52 runs tried to give some amount of resistance to the visitors but the rest fumbled in front of the CSK bowlers.
SR Watson (11), Rahul Dravid (20), LRPL Taylor (6) and J Botha (14) failed to contribute with their willows in a significant way.
Pacer DE Bollinger remained the pick of the Chennai bowlers as he picked up three wickets by giving away only 22 runs in his four overs.
R Ashwin and irregular spinner Suresh Raina scalped two wickets each.
Earlier, the Chennai batsmen hammered the RR bowlers all around the park, as all of them succeeded with the bat.
M Hussey (46), M Vijay (53) , SK Raina (43) and MS Dhoni (41*) contrinuted well with the long handle to make their side post a commanding total of 196 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs.
M. Vijay struck three huge sixes and two boundaries in his innings of 53 runs, before getting run out in the match.
He was awarded the ?Player of the Match? award at the end of the game.
Chennai bounced back in this match after succumbing a 10 runs defeat at the hands of KKR on Saturday.
