Achieving yet another feat in shooting with partner Gagan Narang, Olympian Abhinav Bindra said it was tough for the pair but they overcame the challenge and brought the first gold for India in the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
“It was pretty tough for us. All eyes were on us. I am delighted that I am part of this historic moment,” Bindra said after victory.
India got its first gold medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games here with shooters Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang performing the feats on Tuesday morning in the 10M Air Rifle pair event.
“We both shot well today. I am happy that we could cope up with the challenge of home crowd,” he said.
“The Games belong to the athletes and athletes will perform. I am sure all athletes will shine,” he said.
Olympian Abhinav Bindra shot 595 and Gagan Narang shot 598 to win the 10M Air Rifle event.
“We are all happy. We started with a gold now. Both of them are in good form and it is a dream team,” chief coach Sunny Thomas said after the win.
“They have done the country proud. I am proud of them,” said Abhinav’s father A S Bindra in reaction.
