Jarbom Gamlin is new Arunachal CM

Arunachal Pradesh Power Minister Jarbom Gamlin was sworn in as the state?s chief minister on Thursday night after Dorjee Khandu died in an air crash.

?

Gamlin took his oath in front of Governor J J Singh at the Raj Bhavan here.

?

Gamlin, who is believed to have been close to Khandu, was chosen after reports earlier said Public Works Department and Urban Development Minister Nabam Tuki was likely to be the frontrunner for the CM’s seat.

?

Gamlin, born on Apr 16, 1961, started his political career as a leader of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU).

?

In 2004, he was elected to the 4th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Liromoba constituency in West Siang district and became the Home Minister in the Gegong Apang led state cabinet. But later he was dropped from the cabinet due to his differences with Apang.
