Mumbai Indian’s (MI) received a rude shock on Tuesday at the hands Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) as the home side defeated them by 76 runs at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium here.
Batting first Kings XI Punjab scored 163 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians batsmen got all out at 87 runs in just 13.2 overs of the match.
KA Pollard scored the highest for Mumbai Indians with 17 runs coming from his willow.
Sachin Tendulkar (6), R. Sharma (5), A.Symonds (8) TL Suman (4) failed comprehensively with the bat.
After series of victories, MI batsmen failed to dominate over the opposition and succumbed this defeat.
Earlier, Kings XI Punjab batsmen contributed well as they faced the Mumbai bowlers well to reach the competitive mark of 163 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
In-form batsman SE Marsh remained the highest scorer for 43 runs.
Munaf Patel bowled exceptionally well in the match as he scalped five wickets for Mumbai outfit on Tuesday.
For Kings XI Punjab B Bhatt picked up four wcikets in the match and was named the player of the day for his good bowling.
