Srinagar : A Lashkar-e-Toiba militant succumbed to his wounds on Tuesday, a day after he was engaged in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s in Bandipora district, police said.
Abu Dawood, who was bleeding after being shot by the troops at Barzulla village on Monday, died inside the mosque where he had been holed up.
Police said the ultra had taken refuge in the mosque while fleeing the security forces and had died due to injuries sustained during the encounter.
The troops with the help of Moulavi and local people had made abortive attempt to pursue militant to give up arm and surrender.
Instead, he lofted grenades and opened fire on the security forces.
Another ultra was killed in firing between the two sides on Monday.
