Life came to a standstill in major parts of Jammu on Thursday in response to a Bharatiya Janata Party sponsored bandh to protest the alleged ‘Kashmir centric’ peace formula announced by the Centre recently.
Business suffered, vehicles were off the road while Government and private offices remained shut in all parts of Jammu.
BJP’s state unit president Shamsher Singh Manhas said the bandh was spontaneous to protest the Union Government’s eight-point peace formula to appease the “separatists” in the Valley and save Omar Abdullah government.
There had been no report of any violence relating to bandh.
A separate report said though curfew continued in Srinagar,Pulwama and Shopian in south Kashmir were free from it.
However, curfew continued in civil lines, downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), where it was relaxed for most parts of the day on Wednesday.
Police said the situation during the night was by and large peaceful and there was no report of any untoward incident.
