Mamata Banerjee targets Left on Nira Radia lobbying

Breaking her silence on the 2G scam, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday chose to target her bete noire- the ruling communists in West Bengal.

At a press conference at her residence here, the Trinamool Congress hinted at likely nexus between the Left Front government led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and corporate lobbyists (she did not name Nira Radia) since “some works had been awarded to the public relations agency the latter represents”.

The PR firm represented by Radia is supported by the Tatas.

“If you find out the details that Left Front government had handed over some works to the particular lady. I am not going to disclose the name…who are involved in all these what is coming out in the newspapers,” Banerjee told journalists.

She said the Left should citicize themselves before targeting the Centre.

“See your own face in the mirror,” the railways minister said slamming the Left.

“We want the truth to come out out. We are against any kind of corruption. I think all political parties should sit and find out a formula. I am grateful to the honourable speaker [Meira Kumar had conveyed an all party meeting during the day though the deadlock continued),” she said.

Banerjee drew parallel of the scams in New Delhi and Mumbai (Adarsh Housing) to West Bengal’s land rows in upcoming township Rajarhat.

“There should be justice for all. They [communists] shout in New Delhi but do something else here in West Bengal,” Banerjee said.
