Maoists blasts Orissa railway track
Suspected Maoists blasted a railway track and set ablaze at least 12 dumpers at Sundargarh district in Orissa on Saturday.
On the first day or a two-day bandh called by Maoists, the red rebels planted landmine and blew up a rail track near Rourkela, said the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
However, the RPF said no one was killed or injured in the incident.
?A goods train was about to pass through the damaged part in Rourkela-Kirbur section. But the driver stopped on time, saving a major accident,? the RPF said.
?Movements of passenger and goods trains have been affected. We are trying to normalize the situation as soon as possible,? said the RPF.
Meanwhile, Maoists set at least 12 dumpers on fire at Chunaghati on National Highway No. 215 in Sundargarh.
The Maoists called the shutdown to protest against alleged security excesses.
