Thiruvananthapuram : Becoming second state for banning Gutka and Paan Masala, Kerala state has imposed ban on the sale and consumption of Gutka and Paan Masala.
Cheif Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters that the government order was passed on May 22.
Violators of the law may get imprisoned upto 6 years and a fine of Rs. 5 lakh will be imposed on them.
“One reason why we decided to come out with the ban was because of the increasing number of cases of gutka-induced ailments.”
Madhya Pradesh has already banned Gutka and Paan Masala products.
