Now, baton-charge outside Mohali stadium
Police baton-charged on protesters marching towards the Mohali stadium on Monday demanding government jobs while some cricket fans also got caught in the chaos, reports said.
Amid heavy security the group of protesters, including many women, were heading towards the stadium in demand of government jobs, inviting a police action.
The protesters said they would disrupt the match if they were not provided jobs.
Heavy security has been put in place in and around the stadium ahead of the Mar 30 match which will be attended by Prime Ministers of both India and Pakistan.
Mad scramble for tickets continued meanwhile with even people from Pakistan joining the Indians to get hold of a ticket.
“I will squat here and not take food till I get a ticket. I have come all the way to see the match,” said a Pakistani in Mohali who has not been able to get a ticket yet.
The stadium in Mohali has a capacity of 45,000 spectators.
While about 14,000 to 15,000 tickets were made available to the public in general over the counter, the rest were with the organizers International Cricket Council (ICC).
With no tickets available at the counters, black marketers are making a killing as tickets worth Rs.15,000 arebeing sold for Rs.1 lakh for the high-voltage clash.
Tickets priced at Rs 10,000 were being sold for about Rs 50,000 while those worth Rs 15,000 are attracting bids of about Rs 1 lakh each.
The student block tickets priced at Rs 250 are commanding a price of up to Rs 5,000 while the huge demand has escalated the chair block tickets worth Rs 500 each to Rs 10,000.
Police authorities claimed they would check black marketing of tickets.
