Perth beat Auckland as both teams exit CL T20
Centurion : Perth Scorchers defeated Auckland Aces by 16 runs in the Champions League Twenty20 here Tuesday. Both teams, however, failed to make the tournament semifinals.
Chasing 141, Auckland ended at 124 for eight in 20 overs with opener Martin Guptill (36) being the top-scorer. Left-arm spinner Michael Beer (3-13) was Perth’s best bowler on the day. Perth earlier made 140 for seven, thanks to Marcus North (37) and Paul Collingwood (38).
The Australian side could have gone to make 150-plus but for the effort of medium pacer Michael Bates (4-34).
As a result of this match, Delhi Daredevils and Titans qualified for the last four. The two teams meet in a dead rubber later in the day.
