Plenty of questions, it is good to win: MS Dhoni

World Cup winning Indian cricket captain M S Dhoni on Saturday said there were plenty of questions on his decisions during the Cup, but it is good to win.

“It feels really good. Last one month we have done very well, spent time together in dressing room. These are memorable 35 odd days,” he said after winning the Cup, adding that “this was what we wanted to achieve.”

“My thinking was to give the youngsters chance. I wanted to bat slightly up the order,” Dhoni said.

“I am happy the number of runs I got,” he said speaking on his performance in the final. He scored 91 runs in the final.

He admitted that the beginning was tough with the loss of wickets but “Gautam batted brilliantly and with a bit of dew on the field” India came up winners.

A billion prayers were heard as India after 28 years lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in a fairy tale win crushing a fighting Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

A nation of 1.21 people erupted in joy as India (277 for 4) beat Sri Lanka with a huge Dhoni sixer.

Dhoni and Gambhir played a memorable innings to ensure India bring back the World Cup after 1983.

Gambhir scored a brilliant knock of 97 runs along with a crafty and dependable Dhoni (91*) to surpass the Sri Lankan target of 275 runs.

Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh (21*) remained not out till the end.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had scored 274 for the loss of six wickets with Jayawardene scoring a brilliant knock of 103 runs.
