Punjab Police ASI shot dead on highway

An assistant sub-inspector of the Punjab Police, Gurdev Singh was shot dead by unknown persons on the Jalandhar-Phagwara highway, on Sunday.

According to reports Singh signalled a car to stop for a routine check but when the car didn’t stop Singh and other policemen chased them. Unidentified people in the car then allegedly started shooting at the cops.

A bullet hit Singh in the chest, and he died on the spot, according to reports. Police have not yet identified the four-five people in the car.
