Rahul Gandhi bats for common man at plenary

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said nation building would be incomplete if the common man is not respected.

“We will never build a nation till we respect the common man,” said the Congress poster boy, battling criticism after the WikiLeaks expose caught him on the wrong foot on “Hindu terror”.

“Everyone in India should get benefits of development,” he said.

He chose to avoid the WikiLeaks controversy, while addressing the 83rd plenary session of the Congress here at Burari, Rahul Gandhi echoed his mother Sonia on corruption, saying the corrupt should be severely punished.

“We need accountability and transparency,” he said.

Gandhi hoped that the Women Reservation Bill will be tabled in Parliament soon and go a long way in empowering the women.
