Rs.13 lakh robbed from Ghaziabad bank
Ghaziabad : Four armed robbers fled with Rs.13 lakh from a District Cooperative Bank branch in a market here Wednesday afternoon, police said. The bank did not have any armed security guard.
The robbers carrying pistols barged into the bank’s Malwara branch around 12.30 p.m. One robber stayed at the bank’s entrance while the others entered the branch manager’s room and put a gun on his head asking him to take them to the cash counter, police said.
At the counter, the robbers showed guns to the cashier and two clerks, collected the cash and and walked away, said a police officer.
There were six people in the bank – four employees and two customers – at the time of the robbery.
The customers told the police that the robbers had arrived on foot and might have taken a public transport to flee.
“The incident has been caught on CCTV camera. The robbers’ faces are visible,” said Superintendent of Police Shiv Shankar Yadav.
The bank did not have any armed security guard, which was in violation of rules, he said.
