Sourav Ganguly denies retirement report
Kolkata, Feb 7 (IBNS): Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on Monday evening trashed media reports that claimed the southpaw had retired from all forms of cricket clarifying that he?would play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) if he got a chance.
Earlier in the day, national news channel Headlines Today reported that the ace batsman had called it quits from all forms of competitive cricket after being shunned at the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Ganguly had announced his retirement from international cricket after a Test series in Australia in Nov. 2008 but had continued playing for his state West Bengal in the domestic circuit and for Kolkata Knight Riders in the cash rich IPL.
But after being dropped by KKR, and not being allowed to play for the Kochi team despite the IPL franchise?s expression of interest post-auction, playing domestic cricket does not make sense, Ganguly said, the channel reported.
