New Delhi, Oct 20 (IBNS) A day after Income Tax officials raided his house, BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal said on Wednesday that he was being ade a ‘capegoat’ and had no link with a company that won massive contracts for the Commonwealth Games.
Mittal’s residence was among 30 places raided by Income Tax officials, who are looking into the complaints of financial bunglings in the funds for the Commonwealth Games.
In February, Mittal was made director of Deepali Arts, owned by his nephew, Vinay Mittal.
The same company along with along with a foreign partner, bagged a deal worth Rs.230 crores, to supply treadmills, umbrellas and other “overlays” or moveable equipment for the Commonwealth Games.
Mittal admitted that he was the director of Deepali Arts, but only for a short while.
“I don’t need support of the BJP. I am capable of defending myself,” said Mittal, after BJP president Nitin Gadkari said that his party’s stand was that anyone who was accused of corruption should be investigated.
“I do not own any bogus companies,” Mittal said.
