The Telengana protagonists stalled the state Assembly and government work in parts of Andra Pradesh on Thursday intensifying the movement for a ate state.
The lawmakers of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) allegedly manhandled an MLA of the Loksatta party, Jayaprakash Narayan, for not supporting statehood for Telangana.
The incident occurred at the media point in the Assembly after the TRS and Telugu Desham Party legislators allegedly disrupted the Governor’s speech on the opening day of the Budget Session.
The opposition legislators had also attempted to tear copies of the speech by climbing on the podium.
Meanwhile, work in the government offices in theTelangana region was disrupted following a boycott by pro-state workers.
Responding to a TRS call, about 200,000 government employees stayed away from daily work as part of the non-cooperation movement to press for the statehood demand.
The pro-Telangana parties have asked the people not to cooperate with the rest of Andhra Pradesh with effect from Thursday.
