Tension in Haryana village after murder of brothers

Bhiwani (Haryana) : Angered over the murder of two brothers, a large numbers of residents of Bond village in Haryana’s Bhiwani district Thursday torched six police vehicles, attacked security personnel and blocked the road outside the police station.

The burnt vehicles included the official jeep of the deputy superintendent of police and the station house officer (SHO) of the police station. The agitated villagers were demanding the immediate arrest of a noted criminal of the area who they blamed for the murders.

“Two brothers – Kuldeep and Rajender – were shot dead by a most wanted criminal Kulbeer Singh when they were working in their fields at Bond village late Wednesday night. Kulbeer fled from the spot after committing the crime,” Veer Bhan, SHO of Bond police station, told IANS.

He said a large numbers of villagers stormed into the police station early Thursday morning and set the vehicles on fire. The police personnel on duty had to escape from the police station to save their lives, he added.

“We are taking shelter at a safe place and the villagers in large numbers are still occupying the police station,” said the SHO, adding that efforts were being made by senior officials to sort out the matter.

Police officials said tension was prevailing in the village.
