There are still some areas we need to improve: Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Despite India’s five-wicket win over the Netherlands here on Wednesday, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not satisfied.
“Quite a few objectives were achieved. There are still some areas we need to improve. The Powerplay overs. The lower order shouldn’t have come in to finish this off,” he said.
Dhoni, who introduced spin in the fourth overm said it is always better to use the spinners up front and use the fast bowlers later with the old ball.
“Apart from the last over, Piyush has bowled well. we have seen patches of brilliance from him; he bowled well in the warm-up game. I don’t mind chasing or batting first as long we are winning. Sehwag and Tendulkar are the pick of our batting. We rely a lot on the start. The batting line-up we have is a good mix,” he said.
Man of the match is Yuvraj Singh said he was happy to be back in form after a year full of injuries.
“Last year was full of injuries; I was coming in and going out of the team. Happy to be back in form. My job is the play the middle overs and try to take the team to the end. I have been bowling well. Nice to contribute,” he said.
Dutch captain Peter Borren said his boys failed to cash in on after reduing India to 100 for four.
“At 100 for 4, you never know .. sneak a couple and … to get back from the start given by Sehwag and Tendulkar to get it to 100 for 4 . I am proud of my boys. Peter Seelaar won’t forget tonight. It came against a serious batting line-up. Two games that are coming up are big games for us; tonight will gives us confidence,” he said.
