India’s first World Cup winning skipper, Kapil Dev said that the cricketers these days play lot more cricket than they used to play in their days so it was difficult for him to answer on the cricketers decision to skip their national duty.
Kapil commented that it will be wrong to comment on the pressure and situation in which the players perform these days in comparison to their times and situations.
Kapil answered this on the background of the upcoming West Indies tour of India where most of the senior players will not be seen playing as they have been given rest.
“In our times we did not play so much cricket. Now a days cricketers play 10 months in a year.So it will be unfair and wrong to compare them with us. Today’s players are the best people to answer those questions,” Kapil Dev said in Kolkata on Sunday afternoon as he
visited the city to launch the Real Bond mobile handsets.
Kapil appreciated the new World Champion Indian team and commented that the players are capable of winning not only one World Cup but ten such World Cups.
“It is good when children excel parents. As a big brother and parent I am happy to see our young team,” he said.
“This team is better than us in every respect. They played better then us. From the captain to the players all are different from us in their own ways.They have the ability to win World Cup not once but ten times,” Kapil Dev said.
Kapil Dev was in the city on Sunday at the launch of Real Bond mobile handsets along with Bollywood star Mahima Chaudhary.
