Trends/results of Bihar Election Polls

The Janata Dal-United-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance is set to rule Bihar again as they lead in most of the assembly seats for which counting began from 8 am on Wednesday.

Of the total 243 seats, the Nitish Kumar-led alliance is leading in at least 154 as they surge ahead to clinch two-third majority. Of the results announced, all five seats were bagged by the JD-U, reports said.

The RJD-LJP alliance is leading in only 45 while the Congress, which fought the elections alone, is leading in 5.

In the 2005 assembly polls, the JD(U)-BJP combine had got 143 seats, including 88 of the JD(U).

Bihar witnessed a staggered six-phase elections from Oct 21 to Nov 20.

The polls were largely peaceful.
