West Bengal welcomes Mamata Banerjee

Industrialists, common people and intellectuals welcomed Mamata Banerjee as the political paradigm of West Bengal on Friday witnessed a new history with Trinamool Congress (TMC) and their alliance Congress winning the assembly election, ending the 34 year old Left Front rule in the eastern state.

TMC and Congress jointly won 225 seats, while Left Front bagged 63 seats out of the total 294.

Commenting on the election results for West Bengal, the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) Director General Chandrajit Banerjee congratulated the incoming Government led by Mamata Banerjee.

?The clear mandate given by the people of West Bengal would help the State Government to carry out its action agenda for the economic and industrial development of the State most effectively,? he said.

“CII looks forward to working closely with the new Government to exploit the inherent strength of Bengal in several areas which would include Manufacturing, Services and especially the social sectors namely Education & Health? Banerjee said.

He said in line with the theme of CII this year ?Business for Livelihood?, CII has plans to work closely with the state government with special emphasis on Education, Health, Skill Upgradation, Manufacturing, MSMEs and Infrastructure to help transform the state into a vibrant economy and to fulfill the aspirations of millions of people of West Bengal.

CII has also proposed to create a dedicated Task Force with the New Government for the overall development of the city of Kolkata and make Kolkata a symbol of growth and development in the country.

CII plans to work with the West Bengal government in multiple fields like agriculture to bring about significant growth to the state.

?CII would work with the government of West Bengal in developing the master plan for road infrastructure in particular, ?said Ranaveer Sinha, Chairman, CII Eastern Region.

Bengal Chamber of Commerce also welcomed the new government.

P Roy, Director General, Bengal Chamber of Commerce said, ?We in the Chamber would like to see a resurgent West Bengal both in terms of Law & Order, Development, as well as infrastructure building & industrial growth, all of which go hand-in-hand,? he said.

?We would like to see West Bengal?s flag flying high under Mamata Banerjee?s leadership and the Bengal Chamber hereby dedicates itself to support her efforts in every way possible,? Roy said.

?In West Bengal Mamata does right in toppling the left,? he commented.

From businessmen to the experts in the health care sector, all reacted to this historical event in Bengal in their own perspectives.
