Banishing EVMs from polls

It refers to news that Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has decided to field large number of dummy candidates in many assembly-constituencies by-elections to which are to be held on 27.07.2010 to exceed 64 contestants in each of the constituency ? upper-limit that can be possible in an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

Motto is to make it impossible to use EVMs in these constituencies to switch back to age-old practice of using ballot-papers where invalid votes matter largely. Election Commission should counter such strategies by arranging combo of two or more EVMs for polling in a constituency where number of candidates exceeds the capacity of an EVM. In present era of advanced technology, it can be made possible by taking assistance of engineers of the company manufacturing EVMs.
