India against Corruption

Public Cause Research Foundation (PCRF) in its second ?National RTI Awards? function for the year 2010 took up yet another task of ?India Against Corruption? by starting a move to replace government-prepared toothless Lokpal bill with an effective bill prepared by eminent jurists and legal luminaries.

Views of India?s most respected legal luminary Fali S Nariman on fighting corruption were especially noteworthy when he mooted an idea for our honest-considered Prime Minister to set up an exclusive Union Ministry to deal with corruption. It is indeed a serious issue that our politicians spend sleepless nights to get or retain lucrative ministerial posts with privilege to enjoy red-light cars and a large fleet of cars with security-persons running in the minister?s convoy just for status-symbol at a huge cost to exchequer. I recall of a country where Parliament turned down request for such security for ministers with the plea that any person afraid of danger to life need not contest elections.

Even after so many hi-profile scams and scandal causing shame for India globally, if our government does not make a sincere move to plug out roots of black money and corruption, time may not be far when people may come out on streets to make such political rulers quit the country like has happened recently in Tunisia. People?s anger can make a Hong Kong like repeat where people?s movement turned the country from 1970?s poor-most honesty ranking to now amongst top-most in honesty-ranking. Start has begun with forthcoming such rally on 30.01.2011 from Ramlila Maidaan (New Delhi) under leadership of some most respected names from all religions and faiths.
