Sensex down at 15,965 points, Nifty at 4,841 points

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,217.48 points, was high at  16,226.19 points and down  trade at 1.56  or 253.37 points.

The Sensex reached a high of 16,226.19 points and low of 15,965.16 points in the intra-day trade. The midcap index of the BSE down 86.32 points and smallcap index closed at 76.56 points.

The  50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was down 1.68 percent at 4,841.60 points.

ITC, GAIL  are top gainers and Cairn and asianpaints are more losers in Nifty 50.

Currently, 4  stocks are trading in green, 46 stocks in red in Nifty Index.

Oil and gas index was down 167.07 points, capital goods index was down 170.71, while power index was down 33.21 points.
