Sensex trades flat, IT stocks rally

Mumbai  :  A benchmark index for Indian equities markets was trading flat in the afternoon trade session Monday, even as information technology (IT), media, entertainment and technology (TECk) and automobile stocks rallied.

The 30-scrip Sensex, which opened at 19,365.33 points, was ruling at 19,301.17 points, down 15.84 points or 0.08 percent from its previous close at 19,317.01 points.

The Sensex touched an intra-day high of 19,382.89 points and a low of 19,237.98 points. The midcap index was up 10.30 points, while the smallcap index was higher by 38.73 points.

The wider 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading lower by 3.45 points or 0.06 percent at 5,846.85 points.

The IT index was up 105.87 points, followed by TECk index which was trading high by 41.91 points and the automobile index up 33.24 points.
