The ‘Hot Hatch’ Volkswagen Polo GT launched at Rs. 7.99 lakh

Volkswagen India has finally filled the vacant space of Polo 1.6 by launching the much awaited hot-hatch Volkswagen Polo1.2 GT TSI in India today at a price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Polo GT has come as a replacement for the phased out top-of-the-line Polo 1.6-litre variant, don’t get confused it boasts a 1.2-litre engine but it develops an impressive 105bhp power output, which proves it to be the most powerful hatchback available in the country today. Moreover, it will be the first car in the segment to have a 7-speed DSG transmission.

The Polo GT has been bestowed with all safety features as well, ABS+ESP, dual front airbag, 3 point ELR seat belts come as standard in Highline variant. The 1.2-litre TSI engine with turbocharged and direct injection not only offers a combination of high power output but also returns an impressive 17.2kmpl mileage. The Polo GT will be available in three colour variants – red, black and white.

Under these circumstances we strongly feel the need to provide our customer with a choice to opt for an efficient petrol car,” said Saxena.

With the official launch Volkswagen started to take booking orders, so buyers can book the vehicle with an advance amount of ₹50,000. The new powerful engine of Polo GT helps it to touch the 0-100kmph mark in mere 9.7 seconds with the top speed of 190kmph. The other changes include a GT badge on the grille, GT TSI sticker, hill hold function, sports interior pedals and of course the autobox gear knob. The Polo GT TSI now becomes the most powerful hatch in the country, however Fiat will launch the Punto Abarth by the end of this year, which is speculated to return 140 horsepower.
