Man gets life term for killing boy over loan

A Delhi court has awarded life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh on a man for killing a young boy in east Delhi for not repaying a petty loan of Rs.2,000.

Additional Sessions Judge S.S. Rathi awarded life term to Mukesh and imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh on him in an order made available Thursday.

“A hapless poor boy, Sanjit, was murdered just because he failed to return the loan of Rs.2,000. The convict stabbed the deceased near his chest and…fled from the spot leaving Sanjit bleeding and writhing in pain to die,” the court said.

The court said the convict appeared to be a man of desperate character.

“He has criminal antecedents and is said to be a registered bad character of Kalyanpuri area. He has the history of involvement in several criminal cases, including armed robbery,” said the court.

According to the prosecution case, Mukesh killed Sanjit July 1, 2010, at Shahdara in east Delhi. The prosecution examined 18 witnesses.
