We are in alliance with the DMK: Manmohan Singh

New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday assured that the alliance between the Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was intact.

“We are in alliance with DMK and that alliance stands as of now,” the PM told a press briefing on board Air India One while speaking on All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief Jayalalithaa’s offer of support to the UPA government.

However, he appeared guarded when asked about what he was planning to do with the scam-scarred Telecom Minister A Raja.

“Parliament is in session. It is not proper for me to comment on a subject which is also probably in the court,” he told reporters to a poser on what the Center plans to do with the beleaguered minister.

The Parliament saw a brouhaha over the last few days on the 2G Spectrum allocation controversy with a stern Opposition demanding Raja’s dismissal.

Amidst speculation that sacking the telecom minister might mean his party, the DMK, leaving the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), Raja’s opposition the AIADMK had offered to back the government in the centre.

The PM returned to India after attending the G-20 summit in South Korea on Friday.
